Who can use this feature

❎ Acolyte variant users have to upgrade to Master.
Why this feature matters
Stroke styles are here to speed up your work with nibs across the whole font. You can store and manage the presets of multiple nibs across multiple glyphs and multiple masters.
Display the stroke styles window
- Navigate to the LTTR/INK panel on the very right icon
- Click the icon
- See the stroke styles panelIf you haven't created any stroke styles yet. Your panel will be empty.
Create a new stroke style
To create the first stroke style:
- Select a nib or multiple nibs
- On the UI panel, click
+
- Write a name
- Confirm the new stroke style by clicking on the
Save
. - When a new stroke style is created, you'll see its name in the list of other stroke styles.
💡It is a good idea to start with the stroke styles representing the most used stems.
Assign a stroke style
You can assign any stroke style to any nib in your font across all glyphs (layers) and masters.
- Select a nib or multiple nibs
- On the stroke style list, click on a stroke style you want to assign
💡 In a case, the stroke style has different parameters than the current nib, you'll immediately notice the change.
Modify a stroke style parameters
You can modify the parameters of a stroke style anytime. By modifying the parameter, you'll change the parameters of all nibs across the whole font.
To modify a stroke style:
- Select a nib on canvas
- Edit the parameters of the nib either by manipulating them on the canvas or on the UI panel.
- Go to the stroke styles list and find the stroke style assigned to the modified nib.
- On the assigned stroke style, click on the symbol update.
- After the click, you'll see the changes immediately across the whole font.
💡 You can use a filter to display only the stroke style that is linked to the selected nib.
Rename a stroke style
You can change the stroke style name.
- Go to the stroke styles list and find the stroke style you want to rename.
- In the stroke style, click on the
Settings
symbol. - After the click, the input field will appear.
- Write a new name.
- Click on the checkmark or press
Enter
to submit the new name.
Revert nib parameters to default
In the case when you have changed nib parameters and want to revert the parameters back to the assigned stroke style parameters:
- Select a nib with different parameters
- Go to the stroke styles UI pane
- Click on the Reset
- You'll see the changes immediately after the click.
Unlink stroke style from nib
In case you want to unassign nib from the stroke style
- Select a nib with different parameters
- Go to the stroke styles UI pane
- Click on the Detach
- Immediately after the click, you'll no longer see the checkmark signifying the assigned stroke style.
- Now, any changes to the stroke style will not affect the selected nib.
Working with the long lists
When you have a large project, you’ll easily end up with a long list of stroke styles.
Therefore, searching for stroke styles and filtering stroke styles becomes really handy in navigating the list.
💡 If you keep your stroke styles naming systematic, these features save you a lot of time.
Search stroke styles
Searching for the particular strokes you need becomes handy, particularly when you are looking for a specific stroke style or multiple stroke styles with a similar name.
The search field is obvious at the top of the window above the stroke styles list.
💡 Group stroke styles using prefixes or suffixes like Stem
, Arc
, Swash
, etc to group stroke styles.
Filter applied stroke styles
Seeing the applied stroke styles across the long list might end up with stupid scrolling. Therefore there is filter for applied stroke styles on the selected nibs.
When you select multiple nibs at once, in the list, you’ll see only the stroke styles that are applied to the selected nibs.
The filter button is located at the top left corner of the stroke styles window.
